Moroccan Handmade Ceramic Bathroom Sinks - OunizZ

Moroccan Ceramic Bathroom Basins (Click here)

There is a growing movement in Australian bathroom design away from the clinical and the generic — toward materials with warmth, texture and genuine provenance. Our Moroccan ceramic bathroom sinks sit squarely at the centre of that shift. Hand-thrown by master potters in the ancient workshops of Fez and Safi, kiln-fired for strength, and painted with natural pigments by skilled artisans, each basin is a one-of-a-kind piece that brings authentic Moroccan craftsmanship directly into your Australian bathroom.

Lead-free. Hand-painted. Customisable in size and colour. Zero import taxes for Australian customers. 15-day easy returns. Lifetime guarantee.

Moroccan Ceramic Basins — A Statement Piece for Australian Bathrooms

Australian bathroom renovation is increasingly about creating a considered, spa-like atmosphere rather than simply replacing old fixtures. Interior designers from Sydney to Melbourne and Perth are reaching for handcrafted, globally sourced pieces that bring soul to sanitaryware. A Moroccan ceramic basin achieves this instantly — the zellige- inspired geometric patterns, the jewel-toned glazes, and the unmistakable handmade quality make it a focal point that no mass-produced porcelain basin can match.

Whether installed as an above-counter basin in a powder room, a vessel basin in a master ensuite, or a statement piece in a guest bathroom, our ceramic bathroom sinks work beautifully alongside the natural materials — timber, stone, concrete and rattan — that define contemporary Australian interior design.

Made in Fez — Morocco's Ancient Pottery Capital

Fez has been synonymous with fine Moroccan ceramics for more than a millennium. Our artisan partners work in traditional ateliers where grey mineral clay — prized for its density and firing strength — is shaped by hand on foot-powered wheels, sun-dried, and fired at high temperatures to produce a vitrified, waterproof body. Each ceramic bathroom basin is then meticulously hand-painted using natural pigments before a final glaze firing seals the surface for lasting durability. No machines. No shortcuts. No two pieces identical.

Ceramic Basin Styles in Our Australian Collection

Above-Counter Vessel Basins

The most striking format — these ceramic bathroom basins sit proud of the vanity benchtop, requiring only a small drain hole through the surface. Pair with a wall-mounted or tall brass tap for a high-impact ensuite or powder room look. Available in round, oval and square profiles across a range of sizes in centimetres.

Drop-In Countertop Basins

For a more integrated vanity aesthetic, our drop-in ceramic sinks sit flush within the benchtop while still showcasing their hand-painted Moroccan interiors. Suitable for both freestanding vanity units and custom stone benchtops.

Double Basin Sets

Ideal for shared ensuites and master bathrooms, our matching double ceramic basin sets bring cohesive artisan character to dual-vanity configurations — a far more interesting alternative to standard twin porcelain basins.

Styling a Moroccan Ceramic Basin in Your Australian Home

Powder Room / Guest Toilet: The powder room is the perfect space to make a bold design statement. A small Moroccan ceramic basin in turquoise and white or cobalt and gold transforms a functional space into something guests will photograph. Pair with brushed brass tapware and zellige splashback tiles for a fully immersive Moroccan-inspired look.

Master Ensuite: An oval or round ceramic vessel basin on a stone or concrete benchtop creates the retreat-like quality that Australian homeowners increasingly seek in a primary bathroom. The natural ivory and geometric patterns complement both light timber joinery and dark stone surfaces.

Coastal or Holiday Home Bathroom: A vibrant hand-painted ceramic basin in terracotta or turquoise brings warmth and personality to a beachside or holiday retreat bathroom — the kind of artisan detail that elevates a simple space into something genuinely memorable.

Hand-Painted Colours & Patterns

Each Moroccan ceramic basin is painted by hand using natural pigments. Our most popular colourways for Australian bathrooms include:

  • Turquoise & White — the signature Fez palette, striking against white render walls or stone benchtops.
  • Terracotta & Cream — earthy and warm, perfect for rammed earth, timber and natural material interiors.
  • Cobalt Blue & Gold — dramatic and luxurious, ideal as a centrepiece in a powder room or spa ensuite.
  • Black & White Geometric — a graphic, contemporary take on traditional Berber pattern, suited to minimalist and Japandi-inspired Australian bathrooms.
  • Custom Colours — contact us to request a bespoke colourway to match your specific bathroom palette.

Complete Your Moroccan-Inspired Australian Interior

Pair your ceramic bathroom basin with other handcrafted OunizZ pieces for a cohesive artisan look throughout your home:

  • Moroccan Rugs — A handwoven Berber rug on the bathroom floor or in the hallway ties the Moroccan aesthetic together beautifully.
  • Runner Rugs — A narrow Moroccan runner alongside the vanity adds warmth and connects the look.
  • Floor Cushions — For a fully layered, globally inspired bathroom or relaxation space.

Caring for Your Ceramic Basin in Australia

Our ceramic bathroom basins are glazed for waterproof durability and built for everyday use. Clean with a mild liquid soap and warm water — treat the painted glaze as you would fine ceramics. Avoid abrasive scourers, steel wool, and bleach-based cleaners, as these can dull the hand-painted surface. Do not drop heavy objects directly into the bowl. With straightforward daily care, your Moroccan ceramic basin will retain its colour, glaze and artisan character for many years.

Moroccan Ceramic Basins — FAQ for Australian Customers

Are these basins lead-free and safe for daily use?

Yes. Every ceramic bathroom sink we sell is 100% lead-free and free from toxic materials, including cadmium. The natural pigment glazes are completely safe for daily bathroom use.

How does an above-counter vessel basin install?

The basin sits on top of your benchtop. Your plumber simply drills a small drain hole through the benchtop surface — no large cutout required. Compatible with stone, timber, concrete and laminate benchtops.

Are there import taxes or duties for Australian orders?

No. We cover all import duties for Australian customers — the price at checkout is the total price, with nothing added on delivery.

How long does shipping to Australia take?

Each basin is made to order. Our artisans begin work within 24 hours of your purchase, with hand-painting and finishing taking 10–15 business days. Once complete, your basin ships via DHL Express and arrives in approximately 5–10 business days. We can send a pre-shipment photo or video for your approval before packing.

Can I order a custom size or colour?

Yes — email contact@ounizz.com with your preferred dimensions and colour palette for a personalised quote.

Will the basin look exactly like the product photos?

Because each piece is entirely handmade, natural variations in brushstroke and colour tone are expected — they are a mark of authenticity, not a flaw. We can send a pre-shipment video of your specific basin before it ships so you can see your unique piece before it leaves the studio.

About OunizZ

OunizZ | Brand Story
Although OunizZ was launched in Marrakech at the end of 2019, our story goes back millennia to when the first Berber rugs were created in the 7th century. Drawing on the romance of history, traditional craftsmanship, and a commitment to creating an equitable future for the women who weave Moroccan rugs, OunizZ was created to share the story of Morocco with the world.
With a focus on empowerment, sustainability, and heritage, we’re committed to stocking ethically-made fair trade rugs woven from cruelty-free sheep’s wool. In addition, our highly-skilled weavers have over four decades of experience in handwoven textiles, representing ancient wisdom passed down by generations of powerful women.
OunizZ is a story of love—for Morocco, her traditions, and her people—written by our founders for the country they hold dear. Each of our rugs is custom-created to tell a unique story about our history, heritage, and land. This is ours.

Celebrate Morrocco’s Rich History
OunizZ founders, Sonia and Oussama, share a deep love for beauty and nature, both of which are abundant in Morocco. From snow-capped mountains and untouched deserts, to pristine beaches and ephemeral wetlands, OunizZ is on a mission to share the country’s hidden gems through exceptionally crafted Moroccan rugs, Beni Ourain rugs, and Boujaad rugs.
Sonia was working in the hospitality industry when the pandemic swept the world. The thousands of travelers who journeyed to Morocco each year were unable to buy the one-of-a-kind handmade items that enriched the local economy, while weavers (some of them Sonia’s family members) were unable to sell their textiles and put food on their tables.
When Sonia lost her hospitality job, she realized she could uplift hundreds of women, returning their financial independence and ability to practice the craft they had honed over decades. She and her husband Oussama founded OunizZ with the vision of transforming the industry and exporting Moroccan rugs to the world and, within a year, the company grew into the largest exporter of rugs in the country.

Bringing Transparency to the Moroccan Textile Industry
While Moroccan rugs have grown in demand over the past few decades, the art form has been under threat. This is because the overwhelming majority of companies selling Moroccan rugs online are not the makers—instead, they are intermediaries who buy rugs at low prices.
Moroccan rugs are traditionally made in rural areas with little access to education and employment. Many of these weavers do not know the market value of the rugs they create. As a result, the women who create Moroccan rugs become invisible in the industry, seldom benefitting from their sales and rarely making enough to sustain their families.
At OunizZ, we don’t—and never will—source rugs through intermediaries. Instead, we work directly with weavers to ensure they are paid fairly. Our Moroccan rugs, Beni Ourain rugs, and Boujaad rugs are custom-made for OunizZ, and crafted in our weavers' own homes, where they work with their mothers, sisters, and daughters. This empowers them to pass on generational wisdom while working at their own rhythm and caring for their families and communities.

Welcome the Spirit of Morocco to Your Home
Beyond our commitment to creating an equitable industry that champions economic security and uplifts the custodians of the tradition, we believe that Moroccan rugs are an ode to the country’s rich history. We see it as our duty to protect and share it with the world.
Our Moroccan rugs are available in countless sizes, colors, and patterns, each informed by the areas in which they are woven. From the thick shag rugs created in colder regions to the flatweave rugs originally crafted by nomadic tribes, each Moroccan rug tells a unique story about geography, heritage, and the weavers’ artistic expression.
Whether you want to make a bold statement with a bright Moroccan rug or complement your space with a handwoven neutral rug, shop the OunizZ range of ethically-made fair trade Boujaad rugs, Beni Mrirt rugs, Beni Ouarian rugs, Azilal rugs, and vintage rugs for long-lasting works of art that elevate any space.

Care Instructions:

  • Clean with mild soap + soft cloth (avoid abrasive scrubbers).
  • For hard water stains, use vinegar solution (1:1 water).
  • Do not drop heavy objects (ceramic is durable but can crack under extreme force).

Happy Customers ❤
